The Center for Justice and International Law (Cejil) welcomes the achievement of the Nicaraguan people and civil society in the OAS, condemns the persecution of human rights defenders.

Fitch Ratings, the rating agency of risk, reported that the crisis in Nicaragua could cause a negative change in the rating of the country. Up until August 2017 it was B + (favorable).

The board of directors and the assembly of researchers of the Institute of Strategic Studies and Public Policies (IEEPP), reject the accusations made by the National Police against the director of that organization, Félix Maradiaga.

IACHR establishes precautionary measures for Masaya’s Priest, Edwin Román and for Álvaro Leiva, Executive Secretary of the Nicaraguan Association for Human Rights (ANPDH), who have received death threats.

Roadblocks increase throughout the country.

Violeta Barrios de Chamorro Foundation condemns and regrets the escalation of repressive acts by para-police groups and demands that the government comply with the 15 recommendations made by the IACHR.

Expica Permanente and the Association of Brahman Cattle Breeders of Nicaragua (ACBN) condemn the indiscriminate repression of the government.

The Network of Women against Violence sympathizes with the families of the victims and denounces the abuses, rapes and sexual harassment that have not stopped since the repression began.

The American Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua (AmCham) expresses solidarity with Aníbal Toruño, director of Radio Darío in León, whose facilities were burned in previous weeks and now its management is being threatened.

The Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Managua condemns the killings, destruction and looting in Masaya and urges government authorities to stop the violence.

Funides issues a statement explaining two scenarios on the impact of the crisis: if the government accepts an early negotiated exit, the growth of economic activity will be reduced by 1.7% compared to 2017 and 20,000 jobs will be lost, and the second, if there is no political will and the crisis prolongs economic activity would be -2.8% with a loss of 150 thousand jobs.

António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations applauds the declaration of support for Nicaragua during the OAS General Assembly. He adds that the United Nations «is ready to provide technical support to the dialogue mediated by the Nicaraguan Episcopal Conference.»

Masaya reports a death after a new confrontation between civilians and police.

Antonia Urrejola, rapporteur of the IACHR for Nicaragua, denounces the Human Rights Violations in Nicaragua.
